A look at Female Latin American Image Makers.

Artist and writer Elsa Layder invited me for a conversation about my work, we talked about my sources of inspiration and how I approach my Latin American identity from the diaspora.

The article came out on 8M for Blind Magazine, with the aim to take a closer look at the lack of visibility and recognition of women in Latin American photography. I was very honoured to be reviewed along the work of Alinka Echeverria, and Frida Kahlo.

On Portrait of Humanity Editor’s Pick

The new edition of The British Journal of Photography chose one of my images from ‘Escaramuzas’ for their Editor’s pick.

And this has also been covered by Creative Boom. They are currently judging the submissions for the international touring exhibition and also for the images that will be sent out in space!

Featured on Photo Vogue

Photo Director Alessia Galviano selects an image a day, from the many submissions to showcase on the platform Photo Vogue. My image of ‘Escaramuzas’ made this very fine selection!

About my practice on the Creative Review

Photography Director and writer, Gemma Fletcher, interviewed me for the Creative Review, where she highlights the work of emerging talent. It was such an honour to be sitting on the piece next to such talented artist and good friend Jorge Dieguez.

The piece came out in print on the Photography Annual, and is also available online. Click here to read it.

Now part of the Foto-Feminas community.

Foto-Feminas is a platform, created by Verónica Sanchis Bencomo, promoting female photographers working in Latin America and the Caribbean. So I was naturally excited to be part of this talented community, after getting selected as the photographer of the Month for March, our month. I presented my project ‘Nada Que Celebrar’ and it had lead to many positive outcomes ever since.

Selected for ‘Mundo Latinx’ Exhibition

I was invited, with my project ‘Mujeres del Maiz’, to join ‘Mundo Latinx’: a show in the London Fashion Space Gallery. Curated by White Line Projects, a group of visual artists tackle the questions around representation and identity to reveal some of the struggles for visibility, empowerment and justice within current social, political, economic and cultural structures. The show was up on 8 February 2019 – 4 May 2019.
